About Immersion Oil
Immersion oil is a special optical-grade oil used in light microscopy to increase the resolution and clarity of an image when using a 100 (oil immersion) objective lens. It is placed between the microscope slide cover slip and the objective lens, allowing more light to enter the lens by reducing light refraction.
How to Use
-
Focus specimen under 10 and 40 objectives first.

Rotate the 100 oil immersion objective into position.

Place one small drop of immersion oil on the coverslip directly over the area of interest.

Carefully lower the 100 objective until it touches the oil.

Focus gently never force the lens or stage.

After use, clean the objective lens immediately with lens tissue and lens cleaner.
